Mark Saines and his team are currently visiting Narrabri for a ‘mission Week.
On Wednesday Mark held a training night at New Life. He shared about some of his evangelism experiences – which include power encounters with God and healing. Listening to him talk – and teach 5 step evangelism and encounter prayer models, I found it correlated with our experiences in India. It made sense.
Mark and his team then started praying for everyone present one by one. He had us each speak out the encounter prayer, then prayed for us. As I spoke out the encounter prayer I could feel God moving within me and on me. I went very close to falling over a couple of times whilst praying. I knew it was God – that was totally OK. As Mark started to then pray for me I figured it very likely I would end up on the floor knowing I almost already was. I did basically as soon as he laid his hands on me. There was no forcing or pressure. Again, I knew it was God and had no reason to question this. This had happened a couple of times recently in prayer situations. I landed sitting on the floor. Mark prayed some more and I ended up lying on my back. I felt what seemed like a foot under my back. What followed was something different to I had experienced before. At seemingly regular intervals I felt a sharp, sharp jolt / shock go through my entire body: head to toe simultaneously. It felt as if it lifted me horizontally off the floor a few mm then dropped me back to the floor. This wasn’t pleasant to experience and I wouldn’t call it peaceful. After a number of such shocks I started to feel fear. Strong fear. I think I jumped a bit and ended up lying on my side. Yuck. I had been there before. The fear seemed to get stronger and I found myself sitting up. One of the ladies on the team was sitting there with me: I asked her to pray for me. She put her hand on me, I started to feel peace and was then back on the floor. I don’t really know what happened after that, except there was another lady who came and was praying for me then I heard her laughing and laughing. I gradually ‘got myself self together’ and sat up. David then told me this story: When I had landed on the floor, I had landed on David’s foot. This leg had been painful that afternoon. David said that as soon as I landed on his foot he felt a surge of power run up from his foot to his knee. The pain ceased. As the session ended I knew I was a bit drunk. Not heaps, but a bit. I knew I had encountered God. I went home at peace. A few times during the night I had some more of the short sharp jolts run through my body. I started to wonder about it all yesterday. M had told me no-one else had fallen down; also that there was suggestion of people being expected to fall and pressure given through the elbows to encourage falling. My experience is it was God who put me on the ground. No-one pushed me. I was hardly touched. I don’t understand what happened while I was on the floor, but that’s OK. I’ve asked God to get rid of anything that wasn’t of Him, but also to amplify anything that was of Him. This morning as I was seeking God I found the short sharps jolts were once again going through my body. If it hadn’t been God on Wednesday night He wouldn’t have repeated it this morning. Also, if it hadn’t been God on Wednesday Dave’s leg pain wouldn’t have ceased. No, this isn’t a way God has moved in me before, but maybe different anointing or moves of the Spirit are imparted/activated in different ways. I’m cool with that. More Lord!
