On Saturday Oct 12th, I (Caz Smith) and Julie ZVillablanca will be attempting to walk 50kms in an event called “Go the Extra Mile”. It’s an endurance event that has been setup to raise awareness and funding for work that seeks to prevent suicide amongst our teenagers in Australia. Tragically, seven Australians commit suicide every day and many of those are young people under 25 years of age. I’m walking with a belief that we can make a difference if we try. The local charity (Focus on the Family Australia) is rolling out its’ teen suicide prevention program (Born Survivors) and doing work within churches, schools, community and sporting groups around Australia. I’m hoping to raise money to help Focus expand their work. I’ll be going the distance, training hard before the event and then on event day, I’ll be starting at 7am and won’t stop until I reach the finish (which will probably be in the evening after dark, about 7pm). Talk about a walk! Registration of a team of walkers is encouraged, rather then being a solitary walker. So, I’m sending out an S.O.S for team buddies who want to live on the wild side and enjoy this life and freedom that Jesus gave us to enjoy. I have a passion for outdoor walking and wanting to share it with anyone who wants to come along. Please let me know ASAP of your interest so we can register and book accommodation.
